Pax Autocratica Multiplayer

Does Pax Autocratica have multiplayer or co-op? The Steam page lists Single-player only, with no co-op category and no multiplayer announcement from Multiverse.

Pax Autocratica is single-player only. The Steam store page lists Single-player as the only player mode, and Multiverse has not announced multiplayer, co-op or PvP in any form.

This page exists because the question keeps being answered badly elsewhere, and because a wrong answer here costs someone money.

Steam publishes player modes as store categories. For Pax Autocratica, the confirmed categories are:

Category Listed
Single-player Yes
Online co-op No
Local co-op No
Shared / split screen No
Online PvP No
Cross-platform multiplayer No

The non-player-mode categories that are listed — full controller support, DualShock and DualSense support, adjustable difficulty, save anytime, Steam Cloud and Family Sharing — are all single-player features.

The free Prologue lists exactly the same categories, including Single-player only. Two separate store listings from the same developer, eight months apart, both single-player.

The confusion is understandable, and it comes from two places.

You fight alongside troops. Multiverse’s own description says you fight beside your troops, order them to secure victory, or use them as expendable shields. That is squad command over AI units inside a single-player campaign. There is no indication that another human can occupy those slots.

The genre normally has it. Colony sims and roguelite shooters both frequently ship with co-op, so writers pattern-match. But genre convention is not an announcement.

Steam Family Sharing appears in the confirmed category list, and it occasionally gets misread as a multiplayer feature.

It is not. Family Sharing lets other Steam accounts in your family group install and play your copy of the game — one at a time, separately. It has nothing to do with playing together.

It is possible. Early Access is explicitly a period where features get added, and Multiverse has not announced how long Early Access will run.

But nothing has been announced: no roadmap entry, no store category, no developer statement. Until one of those exists, treat multiplayer as absent. This page will be updated if that changes.

If co-op is your requirement, the honest advice is to not buy Pax Autocratica for it on August 10. Buy it for the single-player loop, or wait.

Because the free Prologue is stand-alone and already released, you can find out whether the solo experience holds up before spending anything. It includes colony building, citizen management, expeditions into the Tyris System and first-person roguelite combat with your AI squad.

For what the Prologue leaves out, see Prologue vs Early Access. For launch timing see the release date page, and for cost see the price page — the price is also not announced yet.

Does Pax Autocratica have multiplayer?

No. The Steam store page lists Single-player as the only player mode. There is no multiplayer or co-op category, and Multiverse has not announced any multiplayer feature.

Is there co-op in Pax Autocratica?

No co-op mode is listed or announced. You command AI troops in battle, which is squad command inside a single-player game, not cooperative play with other people.

Will multiplayer be added during Early Access?

Not announced. Multiverse has published no roadmap item, statement or store category suggesting multiplayer will be added during Early Access.

Does the free Prologue have multiplayer?

No. Pax Autocratica: Prologue also lists Single-player only, matching the full game. Neither release has any online or local multiplayer category.

Can I play Pax Autocratica with friends at all?

No. There is no online co-op, no local co-op, no split screen, no PvP and no shared colony feature listed or announced for either release.
