Exploration and Expeditions
How Pax Autocratica expeditions work: leave your colony to gather resources, conscript citizens and trade with wandering merchants across the Tyris System.
Expeditions are the connective tissue of Pax Autocratica. They are simultaneously the roguelite runs, the resource supply, the recruitment pipeline and the reason your colony is ever left unsupervised.
The Four Confirmed Purposes
Section titled “The Four Confirmed Purposes”Multiverse states you venture into the fractured territories of the Tyris System to:
| Purpose | What it feeds |
|---|---|
| Gather resources | Colony production and manufacturing |
| Conscript new citizens | Workforce and troops |
| Trade with wandering merchants | Not published |
| Feed the growth of your colony | The overall loop |
A fifth thing happens inside the expedition rather than being a stated goal: you collect roguelite cores to grow stronger, survive longer and push deeper. See cores.
Wandering Merchants
Section titled “Wandering Merchants”Trade with wandering merchants is confirmed and almost entirely undocumented.
What that phrasing implies is a non-static economy — merchants that move rather than a fixed shop. Nothing else is published: no currency, no goods list, no reputation system, no whether they can be robbed instead of traded with, and no whether they appear in the Prologue.
For a game where the player is explicitly a totalitarian ruler, “you may trade with them” leaves a fairly obvious alternative unstated. This wiki will not guess at it.
Conscription
Section titled “Conscription”Conscripting new citizens during expeditions is one of two confirmed ways your population grows. The other is converting captured prisoners.
Both require going out and fighting. That is the structural point of this whole section: your colony cannot grow while you stay home.
The Cost of Leaving
Section titled “The Cost of Leaving”Here is the tension the design creates, stated only from confirmed facts.
Citizens left working for the State may grow quietly rebellious, and dissent accumulates until dissent becomes revolt. Meanwhile every source of growth — resources, recruits, prisoners, trade — requires you to personally leave and fight a first-person roguelite run.
Multiverse has not published how time passes during expeditions, whether unrest advances while you are away, or whether you can be recalled. So this is a tension to be aware of, not a solved timer. It is the first thing worth testing in the free Prologue.
See citizen management and rebellions for the home-side systems.
What Is Not Announced
Section titled “What Is Not Announced”No sector count, no map size, no expedition length, no mission or objective types, no biome list, no fast travel, no way to abandon a run, and no failure consequences.
The Prologue covers the first sector, Elysia. Whether the full game has five sectors or fifty is not public. See the Tyris System for what is confirmed about the setting itself.
Exploration and Expeditions FAQ
Section titled “Exploration and Expeditions FAQ”What are expeditions in Pax Autocratica?
Expeditions take you out of your colony into the fractured territories of the Tyris System to gather resources, conscript new citizens, trade with wandering merchants and fuel colony growth.
What do you get from expeditions in Pax Autocratica?
Four confirmed purposes: resources, new citizens through conscription, trade with wandering merchants, and roguelite cores collected during the expedition itself.
Can you trade in Pax Autocratica?
Yes. Trading with wandering merchants in the Tyris System is confirmed, though no currency, goods list or trade interface has been published.
Do expeditions affect your colony back home?
Not announced directly. Multiverse confirms citizen dissent accumulates until it becomes revolt, but has not published how time or unrest progresses while you are away.
